[deps] Plugin version tracking — 16 pinned packages due for review #77
All 16 plugins are pinned to specific git commit SHAs in nvim-pack-lock.json. Several have had significant releases or structural changes since their pinned revisions. This is a tracking issue for the update cycle.
Where
nvim-pack-lock.json — all 16 entries.
Plugins with notable upstream changes
High priority
obsidian.nvim (896d4515) → current: v3.14.0
Maintained fork moved to obsidian-nvim/obsidian.nvim (already using correct source)
v3.14.0 has breaking changes: all opts.callback.* functions dropped the leading client parameter; opts.note_frontmatter_func → opts.frontmatter.func; opts.disable_frontmatter → opts.frontmatter.enabled
Completion now only triggers on [[ (less intrusive)
Legacy ObsidianQuickSwitch-style commands planned for removal
Current config is minimal (workspaces + daily_notes) so immediate breakage is unlikely, but worth pinning to a tagged release and reading the Breaking Changes wiki before updating
Checking the pinned commits against current upstream (web search, as of 2026-05-30):
conform.nvim
Latest: v9.1.0 (2025-08-22)
Breaking in v9.0.0 (2025-02-15): removed deprecated syntax and functions. The current config's usage (default_format_opts, formatters_by_ft, conform.format() with lsp_format = "fallback") uses only current APIs and should be unaffected. Safe to update.
obsidian.nvim
Latest: v3.16.x
Deprecated options in v3.16.0: preferred_link_style, wiki_link_func, markdown_link_func → replaced by link.style. The config at plugin_config.lua doesn't set these options so migration is not needed, but worth checking if you extend the obsidian config. See also [audit] obsidian.nvim v3.x breaking changes — review before updating #78.
nvim-lspconfig
The "framework" part (require('lspconfig').xxx.setup{}) is officially deprecated in favour of vim.lsp.config/vim.lsp.enable (the approach already used in this config). nvim-lspconfig is transitioning to a data-only role — it ships server default configs in its lsp/ directory that vim.lsp.enable("pyright") etc. pick up automatically. The package should stay in package_list for this reason; just never require('lspconfig').
