From the release notes of version 6.0.0 of the aws provider:
data-source/aws_region: The name attribute has been deprecated. All configurations using name should be updated to use the region attribute instead (hashicorp/terraform-provider-aws#42131)
This change makes breaks the modules compatibility with versions of terraform-provider-aws prior to v6.0.0. A new major tag to reflect this would be wise.
