Lightning Launcher is a launcher designed for Oculus Quest that supports both official and sideloaded apps and games.
It has been built with a focus on speed, flexiblity, and convenience.
It can run on any Android device, but has been tailored for the lastest updates to the Oculus/Meta Quest OS.
Get Lightning Launcher on SideQuest, or:
- Download Lightning Launcher from releases.
- Install the Lightning Launcher apk to your Quest. If you don't know how, you can follow this guide.
- (Recommended) Set up a shortcut option in
Settings -> Shortcut Settings
- Flexible UI with a focus on ease-of-use
- Manually hide, rename, or replace the icon of any app
- Constantly updated HD banner images, icons, and labels for all Quest apps, from MetaMetadata
- Change apps to display as icons or banners - individually, or by type.
- Change the size or spacing of apps to show more apps at once
- Choose from 10 preset styles, or import your own custom wallpaper
- Enter edit mode and then select "Add Website" on the bottom right
- By default, you will be prompted to install Lightning Browser, which allows websites to look and feel like native apps, and gives cursor support to TVs
- You can also set website to open in the Meta Quest Browser or default browser on supported systems
- Websites will be automatically given labels and high-res icons; both can be customized as you wish
- Automatic grouping of apps by platform
- Customizable default groups for VR Apps (Quest), 2D Apps, TV apps (AndroidTV), and Websites
- Easily sort apps into up to 20 custom groups
- View a single group with a tap, or hold to view multiple at once
- Use the special
Hidden
group to hide apps from the main screen
- Apps you've starred will be moved to the front of the list for easier access
- Prioritizes your favorite apps even when searching or viewing multiple groups
- Press the search icon next to quickly search all apps
- Press enter on the keyboard to instantly open the first result
- Open 2D apps in windows at a customizable size
- Open apps & websites next to the launcher window, or replacing it
- Enable usage data access to see your time played in VR apps (optional)
- Playtime will be shown when hovering over an app banner
- Configure in
Settings -> Shortcut Settings
to open Lightning Launcher when you hover certain icons on the dock - You can also add Lightning Launcher directly to the dock on most Quest versions
- If you have Quest Game Tuner installed, you can tune games straight from the launcher
- If you also have playtime tracking on, you can view detailed playtime charts

QuestAudioPatcher patches native apps to support background audio on Quest 2.
PiLauncherNG is a more faithful fork of the original PiLauncher.
DreamGrid no longer works properly on Oculus devices, but may be better for PicoVR.
MetaMetaData provides up-to-date icons, banners, and labels used for Meta Quest apps.
Oculess can provide background audio for all apps if configured as your device's owner. (Advanced)
