When two Vector releases in the same namespace both enable configSidecar and leave the default configSidecar.labelValue: "true", this labels both chart-managed ConfigMaps identically while the sidecar filters only by that label/value. Each release's sidecar will then load the other release's generated config as well; with the default configs this can introduce duplicate component IDs or the wrong sources/sinks into a pod. Use a release-specific default/value or otherwise make the chart-created label unique to the release.

When configSidecar is disabled and a release uses existingConfigMaps without setting service.ports, this now falls through to the chart's default ports instead of preserving the previous behavior that forced explicit ports for user-supplied configs. Those existing ConfigMaps may expose different ports or no API at all, so upgrades can create Services for datadog/fluent/etc. endpoints that Vector is not listening on; the headless service has the same changed condition. Keep existingConfigMaps in this guard unless configSidecar is enabled.

If configSidecar is enabled while args already contains --config-dir pointing anywhere other than /etc/vector/, this check skips adding the /etc/vector/ config directory even though the sidecar is hard-coded above to write files there. In that configuration Vector watches the user-specified directory and never loads the sidecar-generated ConfigMaps, so either write/mount the sidecar to the configured path or validate/force the same directory.

The emptyConfig and configSidecar parameters have been added to enable dynamic vector configuration by label (#522).
The emptyConfig parameter provides the ability to start vector with an empty configuration directory instead of the chart's default configMap.
configSidecar uses k8s-sidecar (https://github.com/kiwigrid/k8s-sidecar) to watch for vector configurations by a given label. Enabling the sidecar container adds the flags '--allow-empty-config' and '--watch-config' to the vector argument list. The first flag is needed to start vector without any configuration file, while the second flag ensures that vector is reloaded when new configurations are added to the configuration directory.
