These event descriptions are used for publicizing events, once a meeting is completed you would then posting the resulting markdown formatting to different websites (meetup, facebook, community calendars, etc).
It's important to have an agenda so that new members and past members can know what the meeting will be like. The more a member or a pending member knows about what the meeting will be like, the more likely they will feel comfortable in attending.
