2025_Satellite_transmitter_diagnostics

Code and functions to look at timing when aquatic animals tracked with Smart Position and Temperature tags are at the surface, run tag diagnostics, and compare properties of location estimates derived either via the 4 legacy Argos satellites or the newly launched (online as of July 1, 2025) 21 Kineis satellites.

Please note 1:

The sole purpose of this code is to provide a quick overview of some transmitter or satellite array transmission metrics/diagnostics. The code is therefore relatively crude and not meant to produce outputs suitable for publication. The outputs are supposed to give the researcher a quick overview for e.g. if their transmitters performed as expected or if they were battery/bioufouling/etc. issues. Similarly the code also allows to compare some metrics for locations transmitted through different satellite arrays as depending on those, downstream analyses of said data might be adjsuted accordingly, and the outputs of the here available code is meant to provide insights which adjustmentts (e.g. time interval for regularised time steps, etc.) may be needed.

Please note 2:

Rscript "Rscript_Surface_timing_SPOT_tags_(1).R" is currently under construction and not completed.
