A lightweight Chrome extension that turns any YouTube video into audio‑only mode. It adds a small headphones button to the YouTube player controls. When activated, the video element is hidden while the audio keeps playing, saving bandwidth and reducing visual distraction.
It should also be easy to install by cloning this repo and load it into Chrome as an unpacked package.
| Feature | Description |
|---|---|
| One‑click toggle | A headphones / video icon appears in the player bar to switch between normal video and audio‑only mode. |
| Overlay when audio‑only | A dark overlay with the extension icon and the text “Audio Only Mode” appears over the video area. |
| Auto‑enable options | • Always enable – automatically start in audio‑only mode on every YouTube page. • Channel whitelist – specify a list of channel names that should auto‑enable the mode. |
| Auto-enable by channel names | A clean popup (opened from the Chrome extensions toolbar) lets you toggle the auto‑enable flag and manage the channel whitelist with add/remove tags. |
