Pixel Blender

A simple, powerful, offline-first web tool for calculating the multiplicative tint color needed to transform a base color into a target color.

(Suggestion: Add a screenshot of the app here!)

What is Pixel Blender?

Pixel Blender solves a common problem for game developers, pixel artists, and digital creators: finding the right tint color.

If you have an asset of one color and need it to match another color using a software's "Tint" or "Modulate" property (which usually uses a Multiply blend mode), guessing the right color is a frustrating process of trial-and-error.

This tool does the math for you. You provide the color you have and the color you want, and it instantly gives you the exact tint color to achieve that result.

Features

  • Instant, Accurate Calculations: Solves the multiplicative blend formula for you.
  • Multiple Color Formats: Input and see results in HEX, RGB, and HSL.
  • Light & Dark Modes: Work comfortably with a theme that suits you.
  • Responsive Design: Use it on your desktop, tablet, or phone.
  • Background Preview: Toggle the page background to your result color for a full-screen preview.
  • 100% Offline & Dependency-Free: A single HTML file that runs anywhere.

How to Use

  1. Download the pixel-blender.html (renamed to index.html for GitHub) file.
  2. Double-click it to open it in any modern web browser.
  3. That's it!

Use Cases (Beyond Matching Tiles!)

While this tool was born from a need to match adjacent tiles in a game map, its applications are much broader:

  • Procedural Content Generation: Generate color variations for enemies or items. If you have a grey base sprite, you can blend it with any color from a "rarity" palette (e.g., green for common, purple for epic) to create consistent variants.
  • Dynamic UI Theming: In game development, tint your UI panels and icons to match a character's armor color, a world's theme, or a player's chosen color scheme.
  • Lighting & Shadow Effects: As a digital artist, if you have a base color for an object, you can blend it with your scene's ambient light color to calculate the perfect, subtle hue for your shading layers.
  • Brand & Web Design: Quickly calculate the color needed to tint a grayscale SVG icon to perfectly match a specific color in your brand's palette using CSS filters.
  • Grayscale Coloring: For digital painters who work from a grayscale value painting, use Pixel Blender to find the exact color to use on a "Multiply" layer to tint a grey section to your desired final color.

For Future Developers (AI & Human)

This section provides guidelines for maintaining and contributing to the project. (The rest of the README from the previous response goes here)
