Edit: I see you mentioned it depends on the Steel Battalion controller changes, but I'm not sure why considering the Controller S PR has already been merged

I’m not sure whether I built the PR correctly or if this behavior is expected. I don’t know the current status of xemu’s MPEG-2 video decoding, but I tested c48183b and none of the DVD Video disc images I tried worked.

After inserting a disc image and letting the MS dashboard attempt to boot the DVD Video, I consistently get either severe video glitches with corrupted audio, or a black screen.

Yeah, that could be the issue. I'm using the Region 2 version (X08-25402), and I’m not sure I can get another dump from a different device, since my HDD image (and EEPROM) might not be compatible with it. I’m using the specific flash version recommended in the documentation btw: https://xemu.app/docs/required-files/#flash-rom-image-bios

I also tested multiple multi-region DVD Video discs, but no luck so far.

Note: Changing the security region, video standard (AV region?), and DVD zone via XboxEepromEditor → no effect.

I'm pretty sure the decoding artifacts are unrelated to this PR, so let's not worry about decoding artifacts here. This PR is about DVD Playback Kit emulation, not decoding. We have similar artifacts in #572, so let's debug it separately.
