This guide is for PlayStation 4 players, as well as players on the PlayStation 5 system using the PlayStation 4 version of the game and was originally written by Nick Norris aka DrNicket#3865 here.
- Patience
- "Save Wizard for PS4 MAX" pre-installed
on your computer, with the PlayStation profile already registered in the app
(a paid subscription to Save Wizard required).
- online version is not supported
- NomNom is not affiliated with Save Wizard in any way
- Latest version of NomNom installed (save path need to be configured first).
- Active local internet connection on all devices.
- USB Drive with at least 75MB of free space (more is better though).
- PlayStation 5: PlayStation Plus is required.
- PlayStation 5: You must be using the PlayStation 4 version of the game.
If you only play on PlayStation 4, skip to part 2.
On PlayStation 5:
- From the Main Menu, go to and select the Gear icon (Settings) in the top-right-hand corner.
- Scroll down to, and select "Saved Data and Game/App Settings".
- Select "Saved Data (PS4)"
- Select "Console Storage"
- With "Upload to Cloud Storage selected (by default), scroll down to No Man's Sky , Select it.
- Press right on D-Pad twice to select "Upload"
- You may now log/power off your PS5.
On PlayStation 4:
- Log into the same account on a PS4.
- Go to and select Settings in the top-right-hand corner of the main menu.
- Select "Application Saved Data Management".
- Select "Saved Data in Online Storage".
- Select "Download to System Storage".
- Select "No Man's Sky".
- Select Download.
- Back up (Circle button) until you're on the "Application Saved Data Management" screen.
On PlayStation 4:
- Insert USB drive into PS4 (I recommend the rear port when using Thumb Drives as they may not be narrow enough to insert all the way otherwise)
- Go to and select Settings in the top-right-hand corner of the main menu.
- Select "Application Saved Data Management".
- Select "Saved Data in System Storage".
- Select "Copy to USB Storage Device".
- Select "No Man's Sky"
- Select "No Man's Sky" again.
- Select Copy.
- You may now log/power off your PS4.
- Remove the USB drive.
On PC:
- Insert USB drive into computer.
- Backup these files to another drive and/or directory! Modding doesn't always go as planned, so save yourself the grief and make manual backups often.
- Launch "Save Wizard for PS4 MAX" (I recommend a fresh launch each time you use the app)
- Click "OK" to make the News/Updates page go away.
- With the USB drive installed, SW (Save Wizard) should auto-detect your save and show your list of game(s).
- Double left-click the arrow to the left of "No Man's Sky (CUSA04841)" Mine shows that code in brackets. Yours may be different. That's okay.
- Right-click "sce_sdmemory" and select "Advanced Mode..."
- Wait for it to complete.
- In the top right corner of the new window, there is a box of six icons. Left click the 5th one, "Export to File" (label pops up when hovering over).
- Select an easy to find folder to save the "memory.dat" file. (remember where you saved it!)
- You can leave this window open to save time later.
On PC:
- Launch "NomNom" (or fast forward to step 48 if you've already configured your save folder)
- Left-click "File"
- Left-click "Open"
- Left-click "Save Path"
- Navigate to the folder from Step 30 where you saved your memory.dat file.
- Left-click "Select Folder"
- NomNom should now auto-detect your Gaming Platform, and your relevant saves and place you on the Manager Screen. If not on the Manager screen, Left-click the wrench icon next to "Manager", then Left-Click "Manager".
- Left-click the Slot # you wish to modify. (from her on, be patient, it may take a second to respond to clicks)
- Left-click the save you wish to modify. (AutoSave or Manual)
- Left-click on the "Editor" button at the left side of the app window.
- Left-click on the tab for the things you wish to modify. NOTE: If any option is greyed out/not selectable, it's a possible future feature that has not yet been implemented yet.
Once you are finished modifying everything you wish to modify for now proceed below.
On PC:
- Left-click "File"
- Left-click "Save"
- Switch back to the Save Wizard "Advanced Mode" window. (Alt-Tab or use taskbar)
- In the top right corner of this window, in the box of six icons, left-click the 6th one, "Import File" (label pops up when hovering over).
- Be Patient. Touch nothing until it's done. This can take a while depending on your internet connection and speed of the computer.
- When you are confident it is done, using your taskbar select "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" or using Explorer, right-click the USB drive letter and select "Eject" before physically removing the USB drive.
- Close both Save Wizard windows.
On PlayStation 4:
- Log into the same account on a PS4.
- Go to and select Settings in the top-right-hand corner of the main menu.
- Select "Application Saved Data Management".
- Select "Saved Data on USB Storage Device".
- Select "Copy to System Storage".
- Select "No Man's Sky".
- Select "No Man's Sky" again.
- Select Copy.
To get your saves back on the PlayStation 5, skip to part 7.
- Back out to the main menu, and launch No Man's Sky so you can play with your new toys!!
- I recommend removing the USB drive if not using it for regular access as it tends to heat up significantly, shortening it's lifespan.
On PlayStation 4:
- Back up (Circle button) until you're on the "Application Saved Data Management" screen.
- Select "Saved Data in System Storage"
- Select "Upload to Online Storage"
- Select "No Man's Sky".
- Select "No Man's Sky" again.
- Select "Upload"
On PlayStation 5:
- From the Main Menu, go to and select the Gear icon (Settings) in the top-right-hand corner.
- Scroll down to, and select "Saved Data and Game/App Settings".
- Select "Saved Data (PS4)"
- Select "Cloud Storage"
- With "Download to Console Storage selected (by default), scroll down to No Man's Sky , Select it.
- Press right on D-Pad twice to select "Download"
- back out to the main menu, and launch No Man's Sky so you can play with your new toys!!
