4. MassEffectModder menus overview

  • Texture Explorer

    First time use: generates the game map from vanilla game files.

    The game scan is stored at the MassEffectModder toolset folder in a file named me1map.bin / me2map.bin / me3map.bin depending on the scanned game.

    After that first time setup, we´ll use this menu option to acces to the game map for modding.

  • Repack (ME2/ME3 games only)

    Provides additional compression for the modded game files.

    Please, notice this will save disk space but, as a side effect, further modding runs will perform slower due Zlib compression effect. In any case, this Repack is just optional.

  • Update LOD settings:

    Provides correct LOD settings for the different Texture Groups at the required game .ini files so any upscaled modded textures will be rendered ingame properly.

  • Unpack DLC Archives (ME3 game only)

    Extract DLC content archives (.sfar files). This is required prior to any ME3 game modding.

  • Load Data Mod

    Beign not directly related to texture replacement, this menu item is out of the scope of this basic guide, sorry.
