Next in the ongoing series of general availability reviews, IS faction medium Meks from the 2900-3049 years. The overall goals are:
Another goal specific to this time period is addressing the lack of variation between A-rated (best equipped) and F-rated (worst-equipped) forces. This is particularly difficult here due to the lack of advanced technology that would otherwise be used in other periods. The +/- and ! availability adjustments are used so forces generated at the highest level have a representative portion of faction-associated Meks such as the Phoenix Hawk -1D/-1K and Shadow Hawk -2D/-2K models. The forces at the lowest level are much more generic, mostly Meks that have the Ubiquitous (IS) quirk such as the Phoenix Hawk -1, Shadow Hawk -2H, and Wolverine -6R models.
I've updated the salvage distribution for the mercenary/MERC faction in 3049, removing the Clan factions, in partial response to MHQ issue 6618. For dates between 3039 and 3049 these would interpolate values that would make Clan units available to MERC faction generation albeit very rarely. With the Clan factions removed (effectively 0/zero) it eliminates that problem while still allowing progressively more Clan salvage to mercenaries from 3049 to 3055.
As with the other weight classes, the radical technology improvements in the late 3040s don't match the linear interpolation between the two era data points of 3039 and 3049. In the 3045-3048 years the force generator system attempts to conform the availability to established C/SL/O (Clan/Star League advanced/Omni) percentages. With only a handful of advanced models to work with those are boosted to unusually high levels. For example, there may be an unreasonable number of Hatchetman Meks in Fed Suns forces in 3047-48. I do have a code update planned to handle this however it has to wait until the force generator data is updated for Clan Meks.
