Help: How to Install
Installing Combat Expansion can be done with a few simple steps.
First, you will need to visit the official page and select the correct version for your game.
When you open that version, scroll to the bottom and download both of the files. One will be marked with "[DP]", this is the actual data pack, and another will be marked with "[RP]", this is the resource pack which is required to use the data pack.
Once the data pack and resource pack have both been installed, you will now open Minecraft and create a new world in Singleplayer.
At the top, there will be three buttons; the one on the right says "More Options". Click the "More Options" button and click "Datapacks...". This will open the data pack screen.
Simply drag and drop the data pack file onto your Minecraft window. If this is successful, your game will show you a screen prompting you to add it as a data pack. Select "Yes," and the data pack will now appear on the left side of the screen, under the "Available" tab.
Hover your mouse over the data pack; this should reveal an arrow on the data pack's icon. Click the arrow to add the data pack to the world.
The rest of the world's options are up to you to change. When you are ready, create the world.
If the data pack has been successfully installed, then a message should show up in the chat saying it is from Combat Expansion.
Open your Resource Packs page, then simply drag and drop the resource pack file into the game window. Similar to uploading the data pack, you will be prompted to confirm adding the resource pack. Click "Yes," then click on the arrow on the resource pack's icon.
Exit the Resource Pack screen, your game will refresh your textures, and then you will be ready to play with the Combat Expansion data pack.
Adding the data pack to your existing world is quite easy.
First, go to your Minecraft launcher, make sure "Java Edition" is selected, then open the "Installations" tab.
The installation/client that you play on will appear on the list. Select the folder icon that is on the right of the installation's name. This will open the directory of the installation, which will most likely be called "minecraft".
Search for the "saves" folder in the "minecraft" folder. Once you have found it, select it, and find the name of your world. It should also be a folder. Once your world folder has been found, find the "datapacks" folder, then you can simply drag and drop the data pack file into the "datapacks" folder. These steps should apply the same for a server, except that there is no "minecraft" folder. Instead, you will have a folder called "world," which is where the datapacks are stored.
When you load into the world, make sure that the data pack is enabled by typing /datapack list enabled. If the Combat Expansion data pack is presented to you in the chat, then the data pack is enabled. If not, then type /datapack enable (name of data pack).
Note
If the /datapack enable ... command does not work, then maybe try renaming the data pack file to a file name that does not have spaces
If you are adding your data pack to an existing world, please know that the world can possibly break, or some features of the data pack will no longer work.
If you are removing the data pack from your world, or you are entering the world in Safe Mode, then many features will break, such as enchantments.
If your Minecraft world prompts you to open the world in Safe Mode, please report this as a bug on the Issues page.
