Not recommended unless alt+key and key long presses are not working correctly.
A quick hack to restore alt-key features with the latest Minimal Phone OTA. The latest OTA seems to have broken the alt key map for the keyboard; if this is the case, the introduction of a new alt key service for Gboard (and presumably the built in keyboard) may be why they didn't notice.
Currently traveling, but will refactor and clean this solution up when I return.
