v2.15.0 — Enhanced Taskbar Widgets & More
Introducing FluentFlyout v2.15: enhanced taskbar widget functionality and layouts, improved multi-monitor and DPI scaling, media flow stability fixes, refined audio visualizer rendering, and more. 🎉 Thanks to everyone for the continued support and feedback! <3
📝 Changelog
🧩 Taskbar Widget Enhancements & Layout Polish
We've significantly refined the taskbar widget experience, including improvements designed to ensure smooth compatibility with the new Windows taskbar features:
Taskbar widget layouts have been overhauled to work with new taskbar layouts introduced in recent Windows updates. The taskbar media and visualizer widgets will now integrate properly to all positions at all sizes. For example, the widgets now adapt if the taskbar size is set to small and positioned at the top:

or to the left:

Scrolling on the taskbar widget now changes the volume, and you can set it to control the master volume, adjust the specific player’s volume, or disable it entirely. The hover tooltip also shows the player’s volume, making it quick and easy to tweak without opening anything else.
Right-clicking the widget now brings up a context menu, where you can quickly access settings or jump straight to the media player.

We also tackled two prominent visual bugs:
- Flyout Jump Fix: Resolved an annoying bug where flyouts could abruptly "jump" upwards when closing if the taskbar is set to the top position. This should also fix incompatibilities with YASB and more.
- Marquee Glitch: Fixed a visual glitch on the left edge of the taskbar media widget that occurred while scrolling long text in marquee mode. by @unchihugo in #1040, #1041
🖥️ Display & DPI Scaling Improvements
For users with multi-monitor setups or variable display scaling, flyouts now adapt seamlessly! We've overhauled how flyout windows handle display changes and dynamic DPI scaling. Moving between monitors with differing scaling factors (for instance, switching between a 100% external monitor and a 150% laptop screen) or modifying your Windows scale settings will no longer cause flyouts to clip, stretch, or render in the wrong position. by @AndyAnderson8 in #1012
🎵 Media Flyout & Visualizer Refinements
The Media Flyout received several stability improvements and visual adjustments:
-
Continuous Seekbar Updates: Fixed an issue where the media widget progress seekbar would pause or stop advancing when opening the volume flyout concurrently or in other similar scenarios. The widget will now display the progress more accurately, if enabled. by @lgc2333 in #1059
-
Visualizer Bars Anti-Aliasing: Improved the anti-aliasing and symmetry on the audio visualizer bars, ensuring bars now render smoothly and symmetrically across all DPI displays. Previously, the bars were slightly asymmetrical and pixelated depending on DPI. by @vermilion10 in #1068

-
Control Alignment: The media flyout controls (play/pause, rewind, forward, etc.) will now align to the center if the center title and artist option is enabled. This should result in a much more visually balanced look in those setups. by @lgc2333 in #1060

Other updates:
- 🎯 App Filtering Accuracy: Fixed an issue where app filtering matched display names partially as well, avoiding unintended app matches. For example, if you manually filter "Chrome", it might previously include Chrome Canary. by @Fuku856 in #1025
- 📐 Bottom-Center Flyout Offset: Adjusted bottom-center flyout positioning, ensuring clean alignment above the taskbar if the volume flyout is enabled. Previously, we left a space for the native Windows volume flyout, no matter what. by @lgc2333 in #1070
- Diagnostic Logging Improvements: Updated
GetLogsPathto reliably locate log directories across all supported Windows versions and install formats to help troubleshooting. by @unchihugo in #1047 - Addressed edge-case crashes and instability within the active media session listener, making media playback detection more reliable. by @unchihugo in #1073
- Fixed bug where the onboarding window always showed the GitHub version hint, even on Microsoft Store versions.
- Other minor bug fixes and UI polish.
Language updates:
- Updated translations across various languages (Thanks to @topusuke @FluffyFuri @oski165 @mustafapekacar @RedStoneBili @mak7im01 @urielejh @Self4215 and others on Weblate ❤️). by @weblate in #1018
- Replaced hardcoded strings with localized strings to ensure full translation coverage across all supported languages. by @Jones8683 in #1102
Code updates (for open source contributors):
- Updated the
unchihugo.wpf-uiframework fork dependency and adjusted control priorities across the UI tree. by @unchihugo in #1098 - Standardized premium buttons across code to a reusable component.
- Updated ComboBox UI styling across settings to match WinUI more closely.
- Updated documentation download statistics and dependency listings in README. by @unchihugo in #1020

v2.14.0 — Open Media Player & UI updates
Introducing FluentFlyout v2.13: jump straight to your active media player from the Media Flyout, improved UI throughout the app, better Firefox browser app name detection, better settings saving reliability, and other improvements! 🎉 Thanks to everyone for the continued support and feedback! <3
📝 Changelog
🎵 Clickable Media Player Header
You can now click directly on the media player name in the Media Flyout to bring your active media player application straight to the foreground! We've updated the media player name section into a clickable button so switching to your playing media app (like Spotify, Chrome, or other players) is seamless. On Chrome and Edge, you also automatically navigate to the exact browser tab playing media!
To try this out, turn on "Show Media Player name" in Media Flyout settings. by @TeKa0 in #965
🎨 UI Improvements & Polish
We've polished the interface throughout the settings and flyouts!
Firstly, the search box experience has been improved: We've updated the user experience regarding focusing and un-focusing from the search box resulting in a much better search experience, and polished the UI to match Windows 11 more closely.

We’ve also added smooth scrolling to the app, so when you navigate through the settings or the volume mixer UI, you’ll experience a sleek, modern scroll instead of abrupt jumps.
Sliders throughout the app have received updates as well: The hover, drag and click animations have been improved, visual inconsistencies (like the small gap at 0% and 100%) have been fixed, and clicking on a slider now brings the thumb to the pointer, allowing for continuous dragging. For the volume slider for example, this would previously have increased/decreased the volume by only 1.
The toggle switches and expandable cards throughout the settings window have also received hover and click animation improvements. by @unchihugo in #969
🌐 Firefox-based Browser App Recognition
Fixed app name detection for Firefox and Firefox-based browsers! Playing media from Firefox-based browsers will now properly resolve and display the correct browser or application name in the flyout instead of a string of random numbers and letters. by @zen1337th in #951

v2.13.0 — Scrolling Text, Search & More!
Introducing FluentFlyout v2.13: dynamic scrolling text on the taskbar widget, a global search to easily navigate settings, visual refinements that align the UI even closer to Windows, and a bunch of improvements to stability! 🎉 As always, thanks to everyone for the continued support and feedback, we really appreciate it! ❤️
📝 Changelog
📜 Scrolling Text for Taskbar Widget
Added a brand-new option to enable scrolling text on the taskbar widget! When track titles and artist names are too long, they usually get cut off with an ellipsis. This feature ensures that longer text are always fully readable by automatically scrolling them! We've also included some customization options for you to experiment with:
- The text bounces left and right by default. You can change this to infinitely loop with the "Continuous Scroll" option.
- Scrolling happens at a normal speed by default. You can change the text scrolling speed if you prefer a slower/faster scroll with the "Scroll Speed" option.
We're already looking into expanding this feature to other areas like the Media Flyout. Stay tuned! by @galagyy in #874
🔍 Global Settings Search
FluentFlyout now has a new global search bar in your settings! As the app grows and more features roll out, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by all the options. The new search bar allows you to quickly search for, find, and jump straight to the options you need. Try this out by finding the new Scrolling Text setting! by @Yasinnet0 in #914
🔊 Autohide Taskbar Visualizer Baseline
Added a new toggle to automatically hide the visualizer, even if the baseline is enabled! Previously, turning on the baseline would always leave lines on the taskbar, even if audio is absent. We've listened and added a toggle to hide the baseline when no audio is playing—try it out!
The default behavior remains unchanged: The Taskbar Visualizer always autohides if baseline is turned off. by @unchihugo in #571
Other updates:
- We're cleaning up the settings pages by moving Acrylic Window flyout settings into their own dedicated "Advanced Settings" section, as most users leave these options enabled by default. by @unchihugo in #899
- Updated the expanded cards styling in settings to match Windows 11 design guidelines more closely, paired with refactored margins and cleanups to various UI components. by @unchihugo in #918
Before UI Changes After UI Changes

- Fixed an issue with exporting user settings where
UuidandIsStoreVersionwere not being properly cleared. Importing settings will also ignore these fields, making it easier to share settings to other users. by @Yasinnet0 in #906 - Under-the-hood improvements to code, leading to less crashes especially during app startups.
- Updated developer contributors list in the About Page. by @zen1337th in #916
- Updated the open-source licenses list in the About Page.
- Clicking FluentFlyout notifications will now trigger its action instead of simply dismissing them.
- Other bug fixes and changes

HttpClientwrapper and refining global exception handling. by @unchihugo in #904 - Moved Converter methods in
/Classes/Utilsto their own/Classes/Convertersfolder - Added a new FluentFlyout.SourceGenerators project with a Roslyn source generator to generate part of the new search functionality during builds. When adding new, searchable options in the settings, add a unique
