For random walk with restarts, is there an actual paper we can reference as well?

Besides the original PageRank paper itself, I don't know what the best reference is for these early ideas. Is TrustRank specifically used in this implementation?

You're right - I assumed Personalized PageRank came from TrustRank, but it was merely adopted for TrustRank 👍
