0.3.8.3071 Easter (Re-)Release
The previous release had a bug with the Windows installer not copying the needed graphics package files leading to black menu screens. Please download and use this new version instead.
Major changes since release 0.3.8.2795:
General Game Improvements
- It's now possible to click on mission briefing videos to view the video's previously unseen map location and also click again to see the video once more
- Following the above change, several unused zealot campaign briefing videos were restored
- Many improvements to scaling of various graphics including:
- Improved HUD scaling, especially in HD modes. New scaled graphical elements are used to ensure these should look crisp at any resolution
- Improved menu screen elements scaling, including "desktop" backgrounds
- Improved font scaling and redrawn fonts
- Improved FLIC animation handling with equip screen cyborgs and weapons refactored to now have transparent backgrounds so they can be placed anywhere on-screen as needed by new scaling
- Extensive back end improvements and reworkings of ASM code to C for .FLI animations and sprites, etc, as above.
Unguided Campaign Changes
- Ran basic quality pass on mission Talks Ambush, converting to a post-alpha file format and fixing some obvious bugs (non-hidden NPCs, NPCs facing the wrong way) and also improved with more logical mission objectives
- Basic weapon progression is now set in the Unguided campaign, meaning weapon research/mastery should be provided in time for a new weapon appearing in the campaign. This means it should now be possible to play through the campaign as-is
Windows Installer Changes
- Windows installer now offers a Portable mode. This will make the game save users data in the game's directory instead of appdata. See wiki for more information. Do not use if installing in C:\Program files.
Known Issues
- Copies of NPC sprites are wrongly rendered at the edges of the screen (see #267)

0.3.8.3070 Easter Release (retracted)
Major changes since release 0.3.8.2795:
Important: For this release, Windows installer will not prepare all necessary files. The swars-gfx package needs to be unpacked manually and copied to the install folder in order for the game to work.
