Plan is in motion for the move, no date yet but likely in the next month. Needs to be during the day, volunteers to help with the move
- Issue found with the mirror mount recently, where it wouldn't be as securely fixed as it should have been. That's been fixed and re-aligned. Hopefully that will improve some of the problems we've had recently.
- It would be useful to replace the mirrors, as they're currently fogged
- There's an issue with the lid sticking, so it doesn't then disable the safety interlock
- Extraction has been problematic of late, would be good to investigate
- Working well (although the lid switch still needs replacing)
- Liz has cleaned Fred's bobbin winding mechanism. We're working on a video of how to use it, which will be linked on the wiki.
- Work towards identifying the machines, diagnosing faults, and identifying the pedals to make them easier to match, is ongoing.
- A QR code linking to somebody-should is posted prominently in the room, to make it easier to report faults.
- Sanna has commissioned Emma from Liverpool Sewing Machines to spend a day fixing up the sewing machines.
- Bambu printer is working well. Jackie has been updating documentation. Both Jackie and Charlie have replaced some parts for maintenance
- Eddie is underextruding, looks like it might need a new nozzle
- Marcus is out-of-order
- Prints Adam is also out-of-order
- The issues are those labelled with the
Meeting Actionslabel - Updates (not that there were many) made on the individual issues
- Still not great.
- There's a possible new desk member, need to run through some admin
- Rent will be going up this month
- Still need to finalise and wrap-up Circular Arts Network finances, as that is coming to the end.
- With TRS closing there are other folk looking for spaces, and spaces to run workshops. Sanna is aiming to let folk know
- Would be good if folk could get along to more software/networking events to help spread the word
- Jackie to talk to Scale to see what other groups/events are using their space and whether they'd be able to tell folk about it
- Printing up some A5 leaflets that we could ask Scale to leave out for things like that would also help
- Could the Fabric District community network meeting be hosted at DoES?
- Had a bit of discussion about how to communicate events, where to post them, and ways that we might be able to syndicate more easily
-
Wirral Makefest - Saturday 25th April 2026
- They've asked for our risk assessment. Jackie likely to tell them to use the one from last year
- Would be useful to get more attractive leaflets. Colour ones, more general rather than ones with the events for a specific month
- Adrian to ask on the Google Group if anyone wants to design a flyer
-
Liverpool Makefest
- The group had a meeting with head of Culture, Libraries, and Participation at the Council. They're concentrating on stuff in the community libraries, rather than running things in central library. They're putting the group in touch with someone who might help with funding.
- The group are going to have another meeting (just themselves) to discuss plans further
- If there isn't one this year, maybe a mini-Makefest held at DoES?
-
We should sort out some more visitor fobs
-
Have a destash event; and start to issue notices beforehand of what we might get rid of.
- Sanna to suggest a destash date, maybe mid-May?
Sunday 3rd May 2026
