Snowflakes Effect

Effect-Snowflakes settings

Simulated falling or driving snowflakes made of 1-13 node crystal shapes, using palette colors 1 and 2.

Parameters

Parameter Type Range Description
Max flakes slider 1-100 Maximum number of snowflakes visible on the buffer at the same time. Supports value curves.
Type slider 0-9 Selects the snowflake shape. 0 uses a random mix of all types each frame. Types 1-9 are specific shapes ranging from single pixels to multi-node crosses, diamonds, and squares.
Speed slider 0-50 Controls how fast snowflakes move. In Driving mode this affects horizontal and vertical scroll speed; in Falling modes it controls the rate of downward movement. Supports value curves.
Falling dropdown Driving, Falling, Falling & Accumulating Selects the snowflake movement mode. "Driving" scrolls flakes diagonally across the buffer. "Falling" drops flakes from top to bottom. "Falling & Accumulating" drops flakes that pile up at the bottom.
Warm up frames slider 0-100 Number of simulation frames to run before the effect starts rendering. This pre-fills the buffer so falling snowflakes appear mid-flight from the first visible frame.

When Falling is set to "Driving", Warm up frames is disabled (warm-up only applies to the Falling modes).

Tips

Use "Driving" for a diagonal snow-drift look with two-color flakes; use "Falling & Accumulating" to build up a snow pile at the bottom of the model over time. Type 0 mixes shapes randomly for more natural variety. Raise Max flakes and Speed together for a heavier storm.
